Tomorrow, in a brief ceremony prior to the City Council meeting, I will take the Oath of Office as #1 Position of Millwood City Council.
A bit about the position…
The Spokane County Commissioners have appointed me to the vacant position until January 1, 2018 when the elected occupant’s term will begin.
In May I declared my candidacy and hope the citizen’s of Millwood will elect me to continue my service in this role.
A bit about me…
I am a lifelong citizen of Millwood. This city is the foundation of every aspect of my life.
As my extended family, who all live in Millwood, raise my son and his cousins we are proud that our children are 4th generation at West Valley. I will admit I hope my son or one of his cousins will go on to become 3rd generation Gonzaga graduates too 🙂
My husband and I are avid gardeners with a deep respect for the natural world. We are very engaged members of our faith community at Zion Lutheran Church, based just blocks away from our house.
Professionally, both my husband and I are Registered Nurses. For the last 14 years I have served in various healthcare leadership roles.
Why I am running for office…
After 2016, I became convinced that:
* Our nation will be healed by people who are focused on local work that needs to be done. Water management, local infrastructure, the strength of our local commerce, and long term regional resilience are all issues that will greatly impact our tomorrows.
* Our nation will be healed by loving neighbors who develop their communities through non-partisan relationship building.
I hope to bring my 14 years of leadership and development experience to the Millwood City Council. Together we can live today, with tomorrow in mind.
